How to get Extra Dollars

 

  • What’s the fastest way to earn money? Take a skill or hobby you’re already good at and offer it to others.

  • Yes, it can be that simple. Do you make great salsa? Host a salsa-making class. Love to create vegetarian dishes? Collect your recipes in a Google Doc. Do people love your handwriting? Record a short handwriting tutorial. Are you a talented audio engineer? Offer to edit or mix someone’s podcast. The options are endless.

  • Ask for help. If you can’t think of a SINGLE thing you’re good at, enlist the help of your friends and family. I bet they can name a bunch of skills you overlooked.

  • Perfect ideas don’t exist. Stop dismissing your ideas because they’re “not new” or someone’s already doing them. You’re not going to solve cold fusion. (Unless you are, in which case hit reply, because I want to hear about it.)

  • “But isn’t trading time for money bad?” Not if you make a lot of money. For instance, what if you could spend 3-5 hours a week doing something you love and make an extra $2,000 a month? That’s a pretty good trade-off.

  • There’s nothing wrong with making a little money. Don’t set your goals so high that you can’t win. A few hundred bucks a month? Pocket money! Start there and spend it on your Rich Life.

  • Put it on your calendar. Yes, I know you’re busy. The easiest way to carve out time to earn more (or do anything important to you) is to put it on your calendar.

  • On passive income: Passive income is great. Who wouldn’t like a passive income? But the fastest way to get to passive income is with active income. Start earning money on the side with skills you already have. Once you have your system up and running, then it’s a lot easier to turn some of that income passive.

  • Celebrate your wins along the way. Celebrate getting your first client. And your second client. Buy yourself all the lattes or clothes or Pokemon cards (is that still a thing?) you want. One amazing thing about earning more money is that it becomes easier to celebrate all the great things in your life. An extra $1,000/month helps you say “YES!” to so much more.
